*INTRODUCTION:*
* The culture of celebrating some dates and days has now become a lustrous occasion.
* When we speak of some of the special days that are celebrated worldwide, they are tagged with the speeches by the chief guest/special personalities present on the occasion .
* All these speeches were with reference to particular events and are not of much importance in the present scenario.
* But world over, very few are aware of the facts that there is one speech and a particular day is celebrated worldwide to commemorate, that one speech and it is the Swami Vivekananda's famous speech delivered on September 11, 1893 in Chicago to the delegates of the World Parliament of Religions.
* It is popularly remembered for Swami Vivekananda's opening word *Brothers and Sisters of America* .
* In order to commemorate Swami Vivekananda's mesmerizing speech, VIVEKANANDA KENDRA VIDYALAYA RANGAT celebrated UNIVERSAL BROTHERHOOD DAY on 11th September 2026, with Joviality and Merriment.
*OBSERVATION AT SCHOOL :*
* The programme commenced at around 8:40 a.m. with an observation and gathering beneath the statue of Swami Vivekananda. The well wishers, teachers and Students paid floral tributes under the holy feet of Swami Vivekananda' s Statue.
* The rest of the programme was organised at School Auditorium.
* At about 9:10 am, The Chief Guest Shri *SUKUMAR DAS* , Assistant Conservator of Forests , SMC Chairman , SMC & PTA Members were warmly welcomed by the school with a bouquet.
* This was followed by the ceremonial lighting of the lamp. The auspicious beginning was accompanied by the chanting of the *Ikkiya Mantra*, creating an atmosphere of peace and spirituality.
* SMTI BINDHU K, one of our senior teachers, welcomed the Guests with her valuable words.
* This was followed by the chanting/recitation of *“BHUVANA MANDALE NAVAYUG UDAYAT....... ”* which added a devotional and inspiring touch to the programme.
* The cultural segment showcased the talents of the students through a variety of cultural dances representing respect & spiruality.
* Students also delivered inspiring speeches dressed in the attire of Swami Vivekananda, portraying his personality and sharing his powerful message of universal brotherhood, self-confidence, service and harmony.
* The programme also included the *felicitation* of students who had demonstrated *outstanding performance* in various activities.
* Their achievements were acknowledged and appreciated as an encouragement to continue striving for excellence.
* The Chief Guest addressed the gathering and shared valuable thoughts on the relevance of Swami Vivekananda’s teachings in the present day.
* Altogether 212 (173 students + 19 staff & 20 SMC & PTA Members) people witnessed the celebration.
*CELEBRATION AT NEARBY SCHOOLS:*
* As part of the UNIVERSAL BROTHERHOOD DAY celebration, similar programmes were also organised at other schools, promoting the message of universal brotherhood among a wider student community.
* Various competitions had been conducted earlier in connection with the celebration to encourage students' creativity, participation and understanding of Swami Vivekananda’s ideals.
* On the morning hours of 11th September at about 10:30 am, teachers along with students dressed in the attire of Swami Vivekananda visited nearby schools such as *GSSS RANGAT , GPS RANGAT & GMS PARNASALA*,to spread his inspiring message of universal brotherhood, unity and harmony.
* During the visits, the students presented speeches highlighting the life, teachings and ideals of Swami Vivekananda & the winners of the competitions were awarded prizes and certificates in recognition of their efforts and achievements.
* Overall 186 students & 21 teachers ( from all the three schools) witnessed the celebration.
